Donald S. Raszka, age 94, died at home on January 4, 2024. He served his earthly life with grace, compassion, and empathy. He was born in Toledo, OH on May 1, 1929, to Frances (Michalak) and Michael Raszka. Don attended Nativity School, later graduating from Libbey High School in 1947. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to Toledo to marry his loving wife, Geraldine (Gasiorowski) in 1953 and began his 34-year career with the U.S. Postal Service. Upon retirement from the USPS, Don continued to work 19 years at Express Bill/Emdeon. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the annual family reunion picnic, and Sunday breakfast at the Mayberry Diner. He also enjoyed golfing with Frick & Frack, playing pinochle with his Schuranomoruski friends, going to the theatre, and was an active member of Christ the King Parish.
Don is survived by his children: Michael (Marla), David Wayne, Christine (Anthony) Pizza, and Amy (Christopher) Brimmer; grandchildren: David Michael (Savannah), Lynn (Aaron) Riggleman, Natalie Brimmer, Grant (Jessica) Brimmer; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Mason, and Jase Riggleman, and Maddox and Frankie Raszka. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings Steve, John, Edward, Raymond, Isadore, and Virginia Raszka.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd, Toledo, OH 43612, with rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Parish, 4100 Harvest Ln. Toledo, OH 43623 preceded by visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Entombment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
