John T. “Papa John” Rudzki, age 97, of Toledo, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Perrysburg facility. He was born on September 12, 1926, in Toledo, OH to John and Helen (Michalak) Rudzki Sr. John was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School and worked at the Willys Overland Jeep Corporation for 43 years, retiring as an assembly foreman in 1986. A former parishioner of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, he was a current parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. John was a Veteran of the US Navy and member of the VFW Post 5530 and the American Legion Conn-Weisenberger Post 587. A member of UAW Local 12, he was very proud of his many years of service with the Local 12 summer camp for kids. He was also proud of his Polish heritage and enjoyed attending Polish festivals.
John is survived by his best friend, John (Bonnie) Tursich of Perrysburg, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sr. Gertrude Mechtilde, Florence Piojda, Irene Anjewski, and Helen TenEych; and brothers, Joe and Ray Rudzki.
The Funeral Mass for John will be Wednesday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2240 Castlewood Drive, Toledo, OH 43613 preceded by visitation at the church from 10 - 11 a.m.
