Robert Michael Burzynski, age 97, of Toledo’s Point Place community, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Vibrant Life Senior Living, Temperance, MI surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on December 12, 1926 in Holland, OH to Michael V. and Rose (Szymanski) Burzynski. He was a graduate of Holland High School and a proud WWII Veteran of the Merchant Marines, serving in 17 countries. He was later drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean War. Robert was employed by the Jeep Corporation for 34 years, working in every department throughout his career and retiring as a supervisor/foreman in 1977. He was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Point Place where he was actively involved as an usher, parish council member, and scout master. A Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council, he served as Chancelor, financial secretary, treasurer, recorder, bulletin editor for 35 years, and bereavement committee chairman for 32 years. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being a bow & arrow hunter for over 30 years. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and man of faith, he will be greatly missed.
Robert married Maryann Orlowski on May 13, 1950. They shared 68 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on January 30, 2021. Survivors include their son, Philip Burzynski; son-in-law, Gerard Midworth; grandsons, Seth Burzynski and Robert (Heather) Wonnell; and great-grandchildren, Indigo Eve and Izaac Midworth, and Emma, Dominic, and Riley Sutter. In addition to his parents and wife Maryann, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Corrine Burzynski Midworth; grandson, Ryan Midworth; sisters, Trudy, Elaine, and Delores; and brothers, Donald and Melvin Burzynski.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6 from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Thursday, March 7 at 12:15 p.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 1 p.m.
