Aleksander Wilhelm “Alex” Wasylkowski, age 97, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, OH surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 10, 1926, in Stanislawow Poland to Marian and Katarzyna (Kostyszyn) Wasylkowski. Alex was a Veteran of the Polish Army having served with the Polish Forces under British command in WWII, and a member of CWV Jude Thaddeus Post 1675. A member of Carpenters Local 351, he worked in construction and maintenance exclusively for Dunbar Real Estate, retiring at age 66. He was a longtime parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Alex enjoyed music and playing the mandolin and will be fondly remembered as a true “jack-of-all-trades”, and for his love of gardening – growing fruits and vegetables at his very special place he called “The Farm”.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann (Poplawski) Wasylkowski (married February 27, 1964); children, Fredryk (Anna) Wasylkowski, Kathryn (Keith) Tusin, Mark (Heather) Wasylkowski, and Jennifer (Thomas) Mishka; grandchildren, Abby (Kris) Schondelmeyer. Austin Wasylkowski, Ryan (Amie), Cory, and Kristyn (Zach Szabo) Tusin, Brandon (Megan) Hall, Hailey (Marshall) Wasylkowski, Sara (Robert) Nordan, Drew and Jake Wasylkowski, and Jordanna, Jesse, and Jared Mishka; 10 great-grandchildren; nephew, Cezary (Monika) Otworowski; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Alexa Wasylkowski; brother, Ryszard Wasylkowski; and sisters, Danuta Krystyna Otworowski and Czleslawa Daczynska.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 23 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral services will begin Monday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
