Alice Loretta Kaczmarek

  Alice Loretta Kaczmarek, age 98, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 30, 1922 in Toledo, OH to Stanley and Anna (Wesolowska) Szelagowski. Alice was a graduate of Woodward High School and a food service worker for the Toledo Public School System for 22 years, retiring at age 74. She married Stanley Kaczmarek on February 23, 1946. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker, she loved cooking and baking and caring for her family. Her Sunday afternoon dinners were legendary. Alice was a devout Catholic whose faith was an important part of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and member of their Altar Rosary Society, and a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. When it came to flower and vegetable gardening, she was gifted with a green thumb. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle devotee. She also enjoyed trips to the casinos, especially to Greek Town and Windsor.

  Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; son, James Kaczmarek; sisters, Sophie Oberski, Stella Andrejewski, Helen Kover, and Mary Kokocinski; and brothers, Joseph, Walter, and Ted Szelagowski. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Ann) Kaczmarek, Richard (Lois Camper) Kaczmarek, and William (Darlene) Kaczmarek; grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Garver, Stephanie (Travis) Winner, and Christopher Kaczmarek; and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Luke Garver.

  Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral services will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Adalbert Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Those attending visitation and services are asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
