Andrew Clem "Jake" Owczarzak Jr.

Andrew Clem “Jake” Owczarzak Jr., age 85, of Toledo, OH passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at Otterbein Sunset House Assisted Living surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 3, 1939 in Toledo, OH to Andrew C. and Stephanie (Janowiecki) Owczarzak Sr.  Jake was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was employed as a mail sorter for the USPS at the St. Clair St. location for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Churches. Jake raised championship Beagles and was a member of the Ottawa River Beagle Club in Defiance, OH for many years, having held the offices of secretary, treasurer, and president. An avid sports fan, he coached both baseball and basketball at Regina Coeli School. He followed women’s basketball including the Toledo Rockets and college sports in general, always rooting for the underdog. Jake loved being with family and was close to his nieces and nephews, always supporting them at their various sporting events. He was quick-witted and always kept everyone laughing. He will be dearly missed.
 

Jake was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Robert Bilius; and brother-in-law, John Bilius. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Bilius; brother, Tom (Connie) Owczarzak; nieces and nephews, David (Linda) Bilius, Colette Bilius, Sharon (Patrick) McGaharan, Tommy Owczarzak, Ken (Lynn) Owczarzak, Linda (Jim) Bigelow, and Jenny Owczarzak,; and many great-nieces and nephews.
 

The Funeral Mass for Jake will be Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m. in Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 530 Regina Parkway, Toledo, OH 43612. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW Northwood Post 2984 will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
