Beatrice Ann Bolton, 90, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021. Bea was born to John and Louise (Toler) Smoot in Ansted, West Virginia on February 2, 1930. She grew up a coal miner’s daughter and had ten siblings. Bea followed her oldest sister Myrtle Mae (Tootie) to Toledo in the 1950s, and married Harold Otis Bolton in 1953.
Bea had many jobs over the years, including working with other young women on a farm during WWII. She worked at Libby Glass when she first moved to Toledo, and later worked for many years at General Mills before retiring in 1988 to help look after her granddaughter, Whitney. Through it all she took wonderful care of her family.
Bea was a kind and generous person with a sharp sense of humor and a strong stubborn streak. She had a great talent for telling stories and for coming up with inventive solutions. Though she lived in Toledo for over 65 years, she never lost her West Virginia accent. She loved watching British comedies, cooking southern food, and going to garage sales. Bea loved animals of all kinds, wild and pet alike.
Beatrice is survived by her husband Harold; children, Linda Williams (Don Cox) and David (Becky) Bolton; grandchildren, Crystal, Holly, Jacob and Whitney; many great and great-great grandchildren; three brothers; many nieces and nephews; and lots of loving friends.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their wonderful care. Services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 419-476-9176. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
