Betty Jane Wicichowski, age 100, of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 17, 1925, in Toledo, OH, to Gabriel and Helen (Jachimiak) Zielinski. She was a graduate of St. Charles Grade School and Edward Drummond Libbey High School. Betty was employed at Libbey Glass, and as a travel agent for AAA, retiring from the latter in 1977 after 25 years of service.
Betty was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI. A woman of deep faith, she was grateful to have made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and soon to be great-great grandmother who was devoted to caring for her family and home. She cherished time with her loved ones and enjoyed the occasional Bloody Mary. She and her husband, Chester, shared a love of travel, visiting destinations including Poland, Paris, Mexico, and Hawaii.
Betty is survived by her children, Patrick Wicichowski, Kathy Lipper, and Matthew (Carol) Wicichowski; grandchildren, Carrie Smith, Patrick Wicichowski, Laurie (Joe) Bartko, Larry (Mark Stephens) Lipper, Matthew (Kristen) Wicichowski II, and Sarah (Adrian) Snell; 11 great-grandchildren; and soon to arrive great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Chester A. Wicichowski.
The funeral Mass for Betty will be Wednesday, July 8 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8330 Lewis Ave, Temperance, MI 48182, with visitation at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
