Bruce Lane DeCant, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born on September 15, 1959 in Toledo, OH to Henry and Sharon (Duryea) DeCant. Bruce was a graduate of Start High School, “Class of 78”. He was employed as a dishwasher at Rudy’s Hot Dog on Sylvania Ave. for 13 years; before that at the Wall Street Journal, CCS, and Godfather’s Pizza. Bruce was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing. He was a former member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and a current member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Bruce is survived by his mother, Sharon DeCant; his loving wife of 37 years, Kathleen (Kachelek) DeCant; sisters, Renee (Ken) Burroughs, Cindy Johnson, Doris (Jim) McCarthy, and Judy (Dan) LaCourse; brothers, Wayne (Yevonne St. Aubin), Daniel, Kenneth (Jackie Simons), Charlie (Tanya) and Bob (Joann McMahon) DeCant; brother-in-law, Michael Kachelek; many nieces and nephews; and canine companions, ‘Sister” and “Tyson”. He was preceded in death by his father Henry.
Visitation will be Friday, September 1, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, Sylvania, OH.
