Bruce Lietzke Obituary

Bruce Robert Lietzke was born on January 21, 1958, in Niles, Michigan, to Virgil and Eleanor Lietzke (both deceased). He is survived by his wife, Judy (Janiszczak), and their two children, Heather and Kyle. Bruce also has three living siblings: Bryon Lietzke, Darlene Cauffman, and Joyce Dalenberg. Prior to his retirement two years ago, he worked as a Terminal Operations Manager at Roadway/Yellow trucking.

During his grade school and high school years, Bruce and his brother participated in many sports, including baseball, basketball, and football. Although he played high school football, he also performed in the school band. His achievements in high school football earned him a scholarship to play at Midland University.

An avid outdoorsman, Bruce loved to hunt, fish, and trap with friends. When he was no longer able to enjoy these activities, he found joy in watching the birds, deer, and even turkeys in the backyard as they fed from the birdfeeders. Gardening was another passion of his, and every year, the family would work together to plant and tend vegetable and flower gardens.

As a devoted sports fan, Bruce enjoyed watching Detroit teams like the Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions, but his true passion was Notre Dame football. He rarely missed a game, and if he couldn’t watch it live, he always recorded it.

Over the years, Bruce made many friends and acquaintances. His proudest and happiest memories revolved around his family, which also included his beloved dogs: Dusty, Molly, Maddie, and Bailey. He cherished the time spent with his wife Judy, Heather and Kyle, and enjoyed numerous family vacations in Hawaii. He relished simply sitting with his family on the patio, taking in the view, and he valued Sunday dinners, where the family would always come together, even when he was ill.

He will be missed, but he is no longer suffering.
