Carlos Vasquez Obituary

Carlos M. Vasquez, age 73, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, at Toledo Hospital following a stroke. He was born in Toledo, OH on September 1, 1951, to Rosalio and Maria (Martinez) Vasquez.

Carlos was known for his loving and supportive nature, always putting family first and never missing an opportunity to spoil his children and grandchildren. He was a 1970 graduate of Waite High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He enjoyed a successful career as a printer specialist with Xerox.

A man of many interests, Carlos was an avid collector of coins, trading cards, and Hot Wheels. He had a lifelong passion for sports and shared that passion with his children. He coached soccer, basketball, bowling, baseball, and softball, and served as an umpire for youth baseball. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Of all his roles, the one he cherished most was being a grandfather. Some of his happiest moments were those spent with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Mary; son Nicholas (Stephanie) Vasquez; daughter Gabrielle (Matt) Pifko; grandchildren Richard Charles and JoEllen Grace; brothers Max (Lori), and Jesus (Carol) Vasquez; sisters Juanita Vasquez, Kathy Leyman, and Linda Mahoney; sisters-in-law Betty Fisher, Ramona Gwiner, and Michelle Vasquez; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Rosalio J. Vasquez; his brother, Jose Vasquez; his sister-in-law Adelios Gwiner; and his brothers-in-law Robert Gwiner and Mark Gwiner.
