Charles Anthony Osswald, age 96, of Toledo, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by loving family. He was born April 24, 1930, in Garfield, New Jersey, to Carl and Anna (Zima) Osswald. Charles earned a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Catholic University of America in 1951. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Clement Catholic Church and actively involved there in many leadership roles. He was also a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Charles was very devoted to his faith and family. Close to his bed he had many pictures of his beloved wife Mary, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He thought about them daily and always asked about their welfare and what they were doing.
Charles is survived by his children, Charles “Jerry” (Debbie) Osswald, Richard Osswald, Thomas (Cherie) Osswald, Mary Ann (Steven) Kwiatkowski, John (Erin) Osswald, Bill Osswald, and Michael (Heidi Pitzen) Osswald; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lori LaCorte. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Mary Katherine (LaCorte) Osswald.
The Funeral Mass for Charles will be Thursday, July 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Clement Catholic Church preceded by visitation at the church from 9-10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
