David Schultz Obituary

David Anthony Schultz, 72, was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully in his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born December 23, 1950 he was adopted by Daniel and Rose Schultz. Growing up in Rossford, his love of sports shined through while playing on the basketball team. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Upon returning from the Army, he began his career at The DeVilbiss Company where he would spend his next 20 years until they closed in 1989. His next adventure was a Manufacturing Manager at Steel Fab in Bristol, Virginia. Upon the arrival of his first grandson, he returned to Toledo to be with family and friends. He then worked at AP Parts until the facility in Toledo closed.  His next place of employment was TRW in Fayette, Ohio. He worked there until he retired in 2007. He loved being with family at Devils Lake in the summer and spring break in Florida. His love for hunting in the fall was something he looked forward to every year. If he was lucky, he brought home a deer to share. His annual golf trip with his fellow supervisors from DeVilbiss was something he talked about all year long.

David is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children, Julia (Brian) Schmidt, Amy (Kurt) Necker, Tricia (Marc) Therkelsen, Jennifer (Dustin) Williams, and Brian (Wendy) Peace; grandchildren, Patrik (Alicia) Davison, Aleah (Cezar Kreager) Kolodzieski, Kyle Kolodzieski, Evan Gardner, Jake Therkelsen, Logan Necker, Emma Gardner, Benjamin Necker, Mia Williams, Nadia Williams, and Tyler Peace; great-grandchildren, Violet Kolodzieski, River Kreager, and Nora Davison; and sister, Cindy (Jim) Schultz. Preceding him in death were his parents, Daniel and Rose Schultz.

Special thanks to a dear family friend, Al Leffler who has been with Dave every day for the last four years, Beth Anne and Janice, that were by his side for the last year of his life and the team from Northwest Ohio Hospice for the care and support they provided for Dave and family.

In lieu of a traditional service, the family will be holding a private celebration of life during the summer in honor of Dave’s love of the outdoors.

Arrangements were entrusted to Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 419-476-9176. Condolences may be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
