It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Dennis (Denny) Matthew McGarvey, age 80, of Toledo Ohio (Point Place). He passed on November 2nd, 2021, from complications of pneumonia and COVID. Dennis was born on January 21, 1941, in Toledo Ohio to Ira and Dorothy McGarvey and is a 1959 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. After high school he served in the National Guard. He was employed 34 years at Dana Spicer. He worked primarily on the assembly line and for a time worked as a foreman.
Dennis had a friendly, genial, and kind nature. He loved to chat and “shoot the breeze” with anyone… anytime. He could be very funny and loved to make corny jokes. His family and friends are heartbroken and will miss him dearly. He enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, tennis, and racquetball in his younger years. He loved camping and music. He also loved to cook and was very particular about his eggs and potatoes.
Dennis liked to tinker with anything – including cars, snowmobiles, bicycles, lawnmowers, and boats. At one time he had a garage filled with three snowmobiles but only one worked. His family would laugh as Dennis told them “Three were for parts.”
He is survived by his children, Shelly McGarvey and Mark McGarvey, and by his sister Constance McGarvey Hoffmann, nephews and nieces, Bill Hoffmann, Becky Fondessy and Joseph Hoffmann.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, (Ira and Dorothy) his brother Michael McGarvey and his ex-wife of 25 years, Joyce (Kaczmarski McGarvey) Yarick, who passed in April, 2021.
