Dolores V. Beakas, age 95, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Elizabeth Scott Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 13, 1926 in Toledo, OH to Joseph and Rose (Nowak) Katafiasz. Dolores worked at Champion Spark Plug, the Lanes/Peoples Drug Store, and in the bakery department at the Andersons Store on Talmadge Rd. She also worked with her husband George at their family-owned business, Beakas Cleaners on Junction Ave. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker, she loved crocheting afghans and cooking for her family. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Bunco, and she loved working in her yard. She was a member of the CWV Logsdon Walla Post 639 and American Legion Post 642 Auxiliaries. A former parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church, she was a longtime member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Dolores is survived by her children, George (Kathryn) Beakas, Karen (Larry) Sheets, Janice Metcalf, Andrea (Marty) Pool, and Mark (Kelly) Beakas; daughter-in-law, Sandy Beakas; son-in-law, Jeff Russo; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Beakas; son, Michael Beakas; daughter, Mary Russo; son-in-law, Tom Metcalf; and brother, Melvin Katafiasz.
Visitation will be Friday, March 25 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary led by the Regina Coeli Altar Rosary Society at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Regina Coeli Church, 530 Regina Pkwy, Toledo. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
