Dolores S. Szczublewski, age 91, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Waterford at Levis Commons surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 1, 1934 in Toledo, OH to Stanley and Louise (Turski) Bronisz and married the love of her life, Jerome Szczublewski on September 25, 1954. Dolores was a proud alumna of Central Catholic High School “Class of 1951”. She retired as a dispatcher for Lucas County Jobs and Family Services after 20+ years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker, she supported her children in all their activities and was an active member of the Band Boosters at Central Catholic. A wonderful cook, she was known for her duck soup (czarnina) which she always claimed was for her “favorite” son. (All four of them were convinced that they were “the one.”)
Dolores was a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church where she served as a Minister of the Holy Eucharist and member of the Altar Rosary Society. She volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital for 15 years, delivering flowers and encouragement to patients. She was also a dedicated blood donor and member of the Red Cross’s 4 Gallon Club. Dolores loved playing Bunko with her girlfriends and was a member of the “Red Hat Society”. She was an avid reader, who also loved watching TV, especially Hallmark movies. She bowled in several leagues and was able to continue well into her seventies.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome; and grandson, Gregory Szczublewski. She is survived by her daughters, Louise (William) Stader, Joyce (Ronald) Purk and Sharon (Donald) Cogan; sons, Jerome “Jay” (Darlene), James (Theresa), David (Brenda) and Robert Szczublewski; grandchildren, Kathryn (John) Feighery and Christopher Stader, Moriah (Chris) Farkas and Matthew (Alisa Chew) Szczublewski, Joseph (Lexy Lehman) and Willow Szczublewski, Douglas (Amanda) Szczublewski and Kelly (James) Montgomery, Jennifer and Richard Szczublewski, Angela, Amelia, and Nathan Purk, and Nikki (Mea) Adrael. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren with #11 soon to arrive; her brother, Stanley “Stas” (Carol) Bronisz; and niece and goddaughter, Elena Bronisz.
Visitation will be Monday, January 19 from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a rosary at 6 p.m., and Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 am.
