Dorothy Mary Walczak, age 100, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at the Gardens of St. Francis in Oregon, OH surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 27, 1924 in Toledo, OH to Michael and Mary (Lipinski) Kaczorowski. A graduate of St. Adalbert Grade School, Woodward, and Whitney Vocational High School, Dorothy’s places of employment included family-owned Mike Duck’s Carryout, and the B R Baker Co. in downtown Toledo where she worked in the tailoring department. A highly skilled seamstress, Dorothy fashioned many bride’s and bridesmaids’ dresses for customers throughout Toledo’s Historic Polish Village over the years. She was also an excellent cook, known for her apple pie cuts and other Polish dishes. She was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Gary Walczak of Temperance, MI; granddaughter, Kara Walczak; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albin Walczak in 1998; and brother, John Kaczorowski.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Sts. Adalbert & Hedwig Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
