Edward Lee Hite, age 81, of Lambertville, MI passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Courtyard Manor of Farmington Hills, MI. He was born August 6, 1942 in New Castle, PA to Edward and Helen (Brown) Hite. Ed was a graduate of New Castle High School and Grove City College where he completed his BA in Engineering in 1964. He completed his MBA at the University of Toledo in 1972. Ed began his working career at Libbey Owens Ford, moving on to Johns Manville where he was employed as a research engineer for over 30 years. He was a professor of Math and Physics at Owens Community College for 10 years.
Ed was a longtime parishioner of St. Clement Catholic Church and current member of Resurrection PNCC in Temperance, MI. A dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life, he served as Scout Master at St. Clement Church, organizing camping trips and retreats. He was also a hardworking volunteer at church festivals. An RC Model Airplane enthusiast, he was member of the Flying Tigers and the Weak Signals Club.
Edward is survived by his son, Eric (Leeann) Hite; grandchildren, Eric Hite II, Mary Hite, Claire Hite, Madeleine Hite, Molly Smith, and Ryan Smith; and great-grandchild, Kai Tipsword. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Ann Hite; and brother, William Hite.
Visitation will be Monday, February 19 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, February 20 at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Temperance, MI where the Solemn Requiem Mass will be sung at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery.
