Elaine Machcinski Obituary

Elaine Marie Machcinski, age 80, of Lambertville, MI passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. Many relatives and friends surrounded her with love in the days leading up to her death. Elaine was born February 6, 1946, in Saline, MI to Alfred Dieterle and Lorena (Haab) Dieterle. She is survived by one brother, Glen Dieterle of Cheboygan, MI; one brother-in-law, John Machcinski of Sylvania, OH; sister-in-law, Linda Machcinski; numerous nieces, nephews, and Godchildren; and special friends, Carol Diedrich, Suzanne Keller, Susie Kelly, and Dakota Hartford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Machcinski; her parents, Alfred and Lorena Dieterle; Robert’s parents, Frank and Irene Machcinski; brothers-in-law, Tony Machcinski and Jerry Zielinski; and sisters-in-law, Joan Zielinski and Nancy Machcinski.

Robert first met Elaine’s father Alfred at the farm auction in Dundee, MI where Bob purchased ducks for butchering. He started going to Alfred’s farm outside Saline to purchase ducks directly and cut out the middleman. Gradually, it was not only ducks that caught his eye at the farm. When he found out that Elaine was planning on dating someone else, he decided it was time to move in or miss out. The rest is history! She married Bob on September 5, 1970.

With the love of farming in their blood, Bob and Elaine purchased a small farm outside of Temperance where they resided for many years. There they raised their own ducks, geese, and other small farm animals. There, Elaine was able to pursue one of her passions, gardening. She grew vegetables for their consumption and had one of the most beautiful flower gardens in all of Temperance! Not a weed was allowed to grow in that garden. Bob took care of “critter control”.

She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She and Bob were faithful members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI.

After Bob’s death, she relocated to the Aspen Grove Assisted Living Facility in Lambertville. There she made many friends and became the unofficial “social director” at the facility. She was a greeter at the front door, dinner partner, and became a friend to all who knew her there. To this day many of the current and former aids at the facility simply call her “ma”. She will be greatly missed there.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 26 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8330 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI, preceded by visitation to the church from 10 - 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Resurrection Cemetery.
