Esther Trzaskowski

  Esther L. Trzaskowski of Sylvania Township and formerly of West Toledo died in her home on October 15 at the age of 96.  Esther was the oldest child of Adam and Veronica Czubek, born May 25, 1926. She grew up in North Toledo, attending St. Adalbert’s School and graduating from Harriet Whitney Vocational High School.

  Prior to starting her family, Esther worked as a secretary at Owens-Corning Fiberglas.  She was an innovative thinker, winning cash awards for suggestions that would reduce costs for her company.

   Esther married Frank (Whitey/Tracy) Trzaskowski on June 14, 1952, a union that produced seven children. Frank preceded her in death on February 4, 2000. Once her children were all in school, Esther returned to the workforce as a substitute secretary for Washington Local Schools.  She eventually became the regular secretary at Washington Junior High School.

   In retirement, Esther enjoyed traveling, photography, reading, playing cards, board games and bingo, visiting the casino, and volunteering at Jackman Elementary School where her daughter, Judy, worked.

   Esther is survived by her children Steve, Debbie, Tim, Jackie (Duane) Lanham, Judy (Rick) Thomaswick, and Marianne (Curt Kuecher). Also surviving are grandchildren Stephanie Trzaskowski, Christopher, Andrew (Sylvia Joo), Ashley (Curtis Parsons) and Andria (Dustin Blankenship) Mierzwiak, Laura (Jordan Dean) and Nolan Thomaswick, and Rachael and Caitlyn Kuecher.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Diane, sister (Ethel Hodnicki) and brother (Albert Czubek).

   Visitation will be Saturday, October 22 from 9-11 a.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. James A. Auth presiding.  Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
