Eugene Stanley "Gene" Michalski

Eugene Stanley “Gene” Michalski, age 91, of Toledo’s Point Place community passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Sunday, August 20, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 30, 1931 in Toledo, OH to Stanley and Jeannie (Zorr) Michalski. Gene was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a Veteran of the US Army. He worked at Champion Spark Plug before becoming a Mail Carrier for the USPS for 32 years, retiring from Station D in 1989.

A longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Gene was active in the parish as an usher, choir member, and volunteer for Bingo and Parish Festivals. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed bowling with his wife Joanne at Glassbowl and Lido Lanes. He was a member of the VFW Buddy Frankowski Post 5530.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joanne (Krysiak) Michalski on 12/25/2010; brothers, Mel and Lou Michalski; and sisters, Angie and Eleanor Michalski. He is survived by his daughter, Gloria (Chris) Johnson; grandchildren, Brandon (Angela DuVal) Michalski, Jeremy Stein, and Jordan (Corey) Zalesak; and great-grandchildren, Aidan and Rebecca.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps.
