Euretha “Retha” Rowland, age 89, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1936 in Jellico, TN to Arnold and Otie (Lovitt) McNealy. She was a graduate of Whitmer High School and employed in patient accounts and billing at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital for over 20 years, retiring from there at age 65. Retha was a fabulous southern cook, known for her country-fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and green beans with bacon. Her éclair cake was always a hit with the family. A talented crafter, she enjoyed working in ceramics and making Christmas and Halloween decorations. She loved going out for ice cream and for her favorite biscuits and gravy at Bob Evans. She also loved camping, and fishing at her sister Gene’s cottage on the lake. Retha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, always supportive of her children and grandchildren’s life endeavors. She will be dearly missed.
Retha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Rowland Jr. on July 4, 1998; grandson, Kevin Rhoda; 8 siblings; and her canine companion, “Goliath”. She is survived by her children, Robert (Michelle) Rowland, Sandy (Carl) Rhoda, Donald (Sarah) Rowland, and Steven (Kim) Rowland; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way); sister, Evelyn Korn; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, July 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Wotring presiding. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania.
