Frank James Plewa Jr., age 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Aspen Grove Assisted Living, Lambertville, MI. He was born February 12, 1932 in Toledo, OH to Frank and Catherine (Sieja) Plewa Sr. Frank was a 1951 graduate of Libbey High School. He was employed as an engineer for the Jeep Corporation for 51 years, during which time he also served as Chief Union Steward. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a life member and Past Commander of the CWV Logsdon Walla Post 639, and a member of the F.O.E.
Frank was known for his wry sense of humor, mischievous smile, and for how he loved to give people a hard time. What people may not know is what a caring and generous man he was. He was very involved with the Toledo Area Office on Aging and held many drives to collect socks and toiletries for the VA Hospital in Sandusky, OH. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man, he cared for his wife for many years, and always looked out for his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane (Szosda) Plewa; sisters, Beatrice Plewa, Dolores Dennis, Eileen Block, Bernadine Plewa, Ruth Mioduszewski, Sophie Plewa, Mary Ann Plewa, and Joanne Matuszewski; and brothers, Richard, Ted, and Albin Plewa. He is survived by his stepson, Rick (Richie Laughlin) Kegg; daughter, Cynthia (Daniel) Wisbon; son, Jerome (Lisa) Plewa; grandchildren, Sarah (Scott) Wisbon, Amanda Plewa, and Weston Wisbon; great-grandchildren, Alivia and Tripp; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 19 from 1-3 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with the Funeral Service at 3 p.m. The VFW 606 Burial Corps will conclude with Military Honors at the funeral home.
