Frederick Francis “Sonny” Lemerand, age 90, of Toledo passed away at home on Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was born August 27, 1931 in Toledo, OH to Frederick Joseph and Mildred (Reinbolt) Lemerand. Sonny was a graduate of Woodward High School and a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was employed as both a truck driver and foreman for Libby Owens Ford for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. He married Carole Bodeman in 1958 and together they raised two daughters. A former member of Wesley United Methodist Church, he a member of Harbor Light Masonic Lodge 746 and the Zenobia Shriners.
Sonny was an avid camper throughout his life. He enjoyed every type of camping, from tent camping to travel trailer, and most recently a 36 ½ ft. Dolphin mobile home. As members of the Zenobia Campers and the Masonic Camping Club, he and Carole enjoyed traveling to multiple destinations including Dollywood, Niagara Falls, and Myrtle Beach.
Sonny is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Carole Bodeman Lemerand; daughters, Julie Williams and Mellisa Lemerand; grandchildren, Willard Williams and Leah (Ryan) Fitton; great-grandchildren, Annabella Williams, Trever Fitton, and Trenten Fitton; brother, James (Beverly) Lemerand; sister, Karen (Tom) Thompson; and godson, Eric Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday, July 1 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Members of Harbor Light Lodge 746 will conclude visitation with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon James Dudley presiding. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
