Gary Earl Hergenrather, age 82, of Lambertville, MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 13, 2022. He was born October 31, 1939 in Toledo, OH to Earl and Irene (Wall) Hergenrather. Gary was a 1957 graduate of Waite High School. He worked for the Toledo Transmission Company and for the Dana Corporation for 43 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2001. Gary was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. An avid golfer and bowler, he was a Marshall at Bedford Hills for many years and played on both the golf league and bowling league at Dana. He also loved Bingo and called games throughout the area, frequently at Lakeview Hall. He was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a current parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church where he served as an Usher.
Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Houck Hergenrather (married June 10, 1972); daughters, Jennie (Phil) Kraus and Stacie (Kevin) Niebel; grandchildren, Olivia, Noah, and Joshua Kraus, Andrew, Nicholas, and Lillian Niebel; sister, Bonnie Shuff; and sister-in-law, Karen (Bill) Etue. Also surviving are niece, Kelly Arndt; and nephews, Jack and Bob Vergiels, Frank Shuff Jr., and William Etue Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday, March 18 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
