George Edward McCormick, age 89, of Toledo and formerly of Sylvania, OH, passed away on May 25, 2022. He was born on May 24, 1933 in Toledo, OH to George B. McCormick and Lizzie Heidelberg. He attended Burnham High School and was employed at Tillotson Carburetor and Riker Products, retiring from the latter in 1997. A veteran of the US Army, he served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division from 1953-1955.

George married Barbara Vincent on August 13, 1952. Together they raised their 6 children in the house he built with his father-in-law on McLain Dr., Sylvania. He specifically enjoyed all aspects of the game of golf, starting with being a caddy at Inverness Club, to playing and laughing with friends on the course into his 70s.

He and Barbara shared a lifelong love of being on the road in their motorhome and were full time RVers for 7 years, visiting each of the 48 contiguous states, as well as most Canadian provinces. They were charter members of the Maumee Valley Winnies (Winnebago Club) and George was a charter member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge 1579. George and Barbara wintered in Florida, and enjoyed many cruises with friends and family, during which they were able to visit the final two US states. They enjoyed the company of everyone they met and maintained many friendships across the country.

George is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara; children, Diane Sheeley, Eugene McCormick, Debora (Robert) Less, Sandra Walterbusch,  and Kimberly Slack; grandchildren, Leanne (Kurt) Sutkus, Heidi (Ben) Weiland, Michael (Ashley) Walterbusch, Emily (Matthew) Hensler, Allison (Tinisi Cooper) McCormick, Matthew McCormick, Joshua McCormick, Beth Ann (Cameron) Sloan, Michael Slack, Michelle (Chris) Koger, Robert D (Jessica) Slack, and Stephanie (Chris) Tracy; 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Anna Rose and Alfred Vincent; brother-in-law, Robert Vincent; son, Timothy McCormick and his sons-in-law, Gerald Walterbusch, Robert Slack, and Thomas Sheeley.
