Harold Max Barefield, 73, of Toledo passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice of Sylvania. He was born October 9, 1948 in Toledo, OH to Charles and Elizabeth (Winters) Barefield. Harold was a graduate of Clay High School, the Penta County Career Center, and Davis Business College. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force and a member of the American Legion Conn Weissenberger Post 587. A skilled mechanic, he worked for the Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, in the Body and Trim Shop and as an Inspector. He also was an ambulette driver for Life Star for 8 years. Harold was an avid bicyclist who enjoyed long bike rides and hikes with his wife Carol as well as riding their wave-runner on Lake Erie. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Carol (Brecklin) Barefield (married November 24, 1973); sons, Brian, Christopher (Sherri), and Scott (Heather) Barefield; grandchildren, Ashley, Brittney, Kylye, and Connor Barefield and Jonathan Duris; stepsister, Judith “Judy” Aquette; and stepbrothers, David and Thomas Hodges. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday, April 25 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
