Helen Marie Slomka, 94, of Sylvania, OH and formerly of Oakland St. in Toledo’s Polish Village, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 5, 1927 in Toledo, OH to Ted and Antoinette (Bush) Jesionowski. A lifelong parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church where she received all the sacraments, she was a graduate of St. Adalbert Grade School and Whitney Vocational High School. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. Proud of her Polish heritage, she was a wonderful cook who lovingly taught her children and grandchildren the traditional Polish recipes. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and stamp collecting, and most of all - spending time with her beloved family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Slomka; daughter, Michaline Sinkula; and sister, Joan Kasza. Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Michael) Perlaky, Jacquelyn Slomka, Christine (Richard) Kasparian, Gregory (Mary) Slomka, Julianne (Gary) Zolciak, David Slomka, and Carolyn Slomka; 12 grandchildren, Rob (Holly), Stacy (Chris), Jeffrey (Molly), Mark (Mandy), Rachel (Santino), Katelyn, Michael (Megan), Lindsey (Levi), Madeline, Dustin (Rocio), Jessica, and Grace; 18 great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Michael, Elijah, Isaac, Lydia, Benjamin, Allison, Nikolas, Joseph, Christine, Amelia, Samuel, Madeleine, Makenna, Isaac, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Brooks; sister-in-law, Dolores Slomka; and loving canine companion, Obie.
Visitation will be Friday, October 15 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the CWV 1675 Auxiliary will lead a service at 5 p.m. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Adalbert Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
