Isabell "Izzy" Kreft

Isabell “Izzy” Kreft, age 95, formerly of Parkside Boulevard in Toledo passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Woodhaven Healthcare in Bowling Green, OH. Born May, 1927 in Toledo, OH to Walter and Jessie (Rudzinski) Bak, she attended St. Stanislaus Grade School, Libby High School, and night class at Whitney Vocational. She worked for the Lucas County Auditor’s Office for 23 years as Supervisor of Disbursements. Izzy valued formal education although she never had the opportunity to finish high school. Largely self-taught, she had a passion for reading, often 3 books a week. Faith was paramount to Izzy, as was her love of her Polish heritage and culture. A 70-year parishioner of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, she was a member of the church’s Altar Rosary Society as well as a member and Past President of the St. Hyacinth Seniors. Other memberships included the Toledo Poznan Alliance and the Circle 8 Alliance of Poles.

Izzy was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 33 years, Victor Kreft; sons, Richard and Terence; brothers, Chester, Daniel, Casimer, and Richard Bak; and sisters, Jane Kasior and Sue Kaczmier.  Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Dennis) Kujawa; grandchildren, Andrew (Jamee), Steven (Beth) and Gregory Kujawa; and great-grandsons, Ethan, Jaxson, Lucas, and Camden. She was expecting her first great-granddaughter due the end of October.

Visitation will be Friday, October 21 from 9-10 a.m. in St. Hyacinth Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
