Jane Marie (Martin) Sulewski

Jane Marie Sulewski, aka “The Cake Lady” was received into Heaven on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was born to Jennings and Martha (Schneff) Martin on February 12, 1932 in Toledo, OH. Jane was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She married Eugene Sulewski on October 24, 1953 and they had 5 children. Jane loved to bake a variety of sweet treats. She was famous for the hundreds of wedding cakes she baked and decorated over more than 50 years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, Jane was devoted to her family. She took care of her daughter Jeannie her whole life. She was a former parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church.

  Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene; daughter, Karen Sulewski Vargas; sisters, Joyce Cherry and Janet Cassidy; and brothers, James, John, and Jerome Martin. She is survived by her children, John (Janet), William “Bill” (Nancy), Robert (Laura), and Jeannie Sulewski; son-in-law, Rick Vargas; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

  Visitation will be Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  The Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Francis Speier presiding. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Erie, MI.
