Janice Marie Welniak

Janice Marie Welniak, age 79, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 19, 1946 in Toledo, OH to Leonard and Leona (Czolgosz) Blochowski. Janice was a graduate of Central Catholic High School “Class of 1964”. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Jeff Kozy for 10 years, retiring in 2013, and before that as a health and beauty manager for Foodtown for 30 years. Janice married Thomas Welniak on September 3, 1966. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished time with loved ones, particularly during their summers at Deep Lake cottage. She was a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.    

Janice is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Laurie (Cory) Gordon; sons, Robert (Sue) and Jeffrey (Rachel) Welniak; sister, Cynthia (James) McCaw; brothers, Gary (Toni) and Joseph (Julie) Blochowski; grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, Nicholas, and Dustin Patterson, Sarah and Alex (Lindsay) Welniak, Rachel (Hunter) Ringer, and Max Welniak; step-grandchildren, Annabelle and Colin Gordon; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.  

Visitation will be Sunday, August 10 from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the Regina Coeli Altar Rosary Society will lead a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Catholic Church at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
