Javier M. "Jay" Hernandez

    Javier M. “Jay” Hernandez, age 51, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the Merit House Care Center. He was born on March 30, 1974 in Mexico City, Mexico. Jay resided for several years in Chicago, IL where he was employed as a security guard. On September 16, 2019 he married Kenneth Legech in Surf City, NC, one of his favorite places to visit. He loved traveling to the Atlantic Ocean, walks in the park, especially Swan Creek Metro Park, and visiting Port Clinton. Jay was devout in his faith and prayed for friends and family daily even during his illness. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

    Jay is survived by his devoted husband Ken; mother-in-law, Rose Legech; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Ed) Johnson; brother-in-law, Phil Legech; nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Sherry and Rob Young. He was preceded in death by his parents.

   Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
