Jerome “Jerry” Anthony Zdawczyk of Walbridge, Ohio passed away peacefully October 29, 2025 in his home, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born February 9, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Anthony and Frances (Sparagowski) Zdawczyk.
Jerry grew up in Toledo’s historically Polish Kuschwantz area where there were strong connections to St. Anthony’s parish. Jerry attended Libbey High school where he met and fell in love with the cute, slightly older girl, Patricia (Gawronski). During high school, Jerry was a multi-sport athlete. He loved playing football as well as men’s softball for the Commodores.
Jerry and Pat were married soon after high school and completed their family with “Jerry’s girls”, their three daughters, Norma, Vickie and Linda. The family eventually moved to Walbridge where they were active members of St. Jerome parish before joining Resurrection Parish of the Polish National Catholic Church.
Beyond being a “puppy dog” lover- Dobermans- Jerry loved Notre Dame football, a good round of golf, hunting, fishing, water skiing, and he especially loved Pat’s cooking and being Paw Paw to his grandchildren.
In his early years, Jerry enjoyed polka dancing and playing cards with Pat and many friends, and tinkering with a project around the house or in the garage. Jerry took great pride in the meticulous care of his home, lawn and garden and loved giving his grandkids big bear hugs to “stretch” them a few inches taller. Jerry had a 40+ year career at Doehler Jarvis as a tool and die maker/die repair and as supervisor. He also helped out at Gino’s Pizza, a family business.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Norma Sliwinski, Vickie (Keith) Pasqualone, Linda Heinemann, and adopted daughter Cynthia (Mike) Lowell; grandchildren Keith (Yvonne) Pasqualone, Antonio (Angie) Pasqualone, Matthew (Stephanie) Heinemann, Cassandra (Dayne) Bihn, Mary Sliwinski, and Katie (Matt) Sliwinski-Mundrick, and 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rosemary Price and Marcia (Ken) Machcinski.
Jerry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Pat, his parents, brother Richard Zdawczyk, brother-in-law, Marlin Price, sons-in-law, Russ Sliwinski, Bob Heinemann and a great-grandchild Frances Mundrick. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Care 360 Hospice for their excellent loving care of our dad.
