Joan M. Boyce

Joan M. Boyce, age 93 of Toledo’s Point Place community passed away peacefully in her sleep at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Toledo facility on Sunday, July 23, 2023. She was born on February 16, 1930 in Toledo, OH to John and Stella (Kajtaniak) Bagrowski.  A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan worked in her younger years for Autolite as a comptometer operator before starting a family in 1962. She was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and over the years volunteered as a lunch mother, participated in the parish prayer line, assisted with funeral luncheons, volunteered to wash mass linens, and helped coordinate setup for Saturday masses with her husband. She will probably be best remembered for the greeting cards she would send to family and friends.

Joan is survived by her son John P. Boyce Jr.; daughter Jane (Jeff) Rogowski; and granddaughter, Jada Rogowski. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Jack in 2022; sisters, Clara Rawski and Martha Miller; her twin brother Joseph in 2022; and brothers Edward, Leonard, Raymond, and Aloysius “Ollie” Bagrowski.

While never wanting to ask for assistance, Joan was appreciative of the compassionate care she received this past month from her daughter; her neighbor Andie; her health aide Jennifer from Arista Home Care Solutions; and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Her health may have been in decline but when people would ask how she was doing, Joan would always tell them she was okay and was more concerned about their well-being.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 27 from 4-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
