Joanne Pawloski, age 92, of Toledo passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Gardens of St. Francis Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 13, 1928 in Toledo, OH to Raymond and Naomi (Peoples) LaPlante. Joanne was a beloved wife to her husband Leo, honored mother to her 9 children, cherished by her 22 grandchildren, and an adored “Gigi” to her 36 great grandchildren. Joanne was a woman of strong faith, unconditional love, and kind to everyone she encountered. Her strength helped guide five generations to develop deep family roots.
Joanne delighted in knitting, crocheting and sewing Afghans and sweaters for those she loved. She always had a sweet spot for the elderly people in her neighborhood and would often spend many hours visiting with them. Of course, everyone knows Joanne loved to visit with people on her front porch; her family, friends and neighbors could always stop by and sit for a spell. She was a member of the LCBA and a former parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church where she volunteered in the school library and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a current member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Joanne is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Gary) Obee, Cindy Swift, Linda (Tim) Frass, and Teresa (Joe) Norton; sons, Tom (Terri), Jerry (Sharon), Jeff (Sandy), Rick, and Chris Pawloski; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Carol Morgan and John (Judy) La Plante. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo J. Pawloski; siblings, Lois Tate, Nancy Gonia, and Phil LaPlante; and stepfather, George Bihl.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12 from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a rosary Tuesday at 4 p.m. and a time for sharing memories immediately following the rosary. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Helping Hands of St. Louis, the Pregnancy Center of Toledo, or St. Catherine Church. Condolences may be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
