John Anthony Czop, 79, of Toledo’s Point Place community, died Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 5, 1941 in Toledo, OH to Anthony and Mary (Kurzeja) Czop. John was a 1960 graduate of Woodward High School. He worked at Wonderbread Bakery from 1960-65, and at the Ford Motor Stamping Plant in Woodhaven, MI from 1965-74, transferring to the Ford Maumee Stamping Plant where he retired in May, 2000. John married Kathleen Niedbalski on October 6, 1962 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. He was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Kathleen Czop; children, Kenneth (Myong) Czop, Larry (Cindy) Czop, and Karen Czop (Matt Berger); grandchildren, Maxine (Trei) Post, Ryan (Amanda) Czop, Mathew Czop, Jacob Czop, and Markie (Caleb) Straub; brother-in-law, Richard (Fran) Niedbalski; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Barbara Czop.
The Funeral Mass for John will be Friday, January 22 at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 N. Summit St., Toledo. Those attending the service are asked to wear a facial covering and respect social distancing guidelines.
