John Jagodzinski Obituary

John “Jago” “JJ” Jagodzinski, age 80, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at Mercy St. Anne Hospital. He was born August 9, 1944 in Toledo, OH to loving parents, Stephen and Mildred (Burgy) Jagodzinski. John grew up on Indiana and Hawley. He married the love of his life, Sharon B. Bojarski on August 5, 1967. He and Sharon had two daughters, Amy and Julie. John attended Zion Lutheran Grade School, Macomber High School, and the University of Toledo Community Tech for 2 years. He worked for the University of Toledo, Toledo Catholic Cemeteries, and several departments with the City of Toledo for 21 years, retiring in 2008.

John was extremely proud of his Polish heritage and passed that love of tradition on to his family. A talented singer, he performed locally with “JJ and the Jammers”. He loved playing softball for over 35 years and also umpired for the Toledo Umpire Association. He was a very big fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and Michigan State University football. While Sharon was alive, they enjoyed walks at Walbridge Park and traveling to Las Vegas and Florida. John’s greatest joy was watching his grandkids’ participation in all their many activities.

John was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife Sharon in 2009; sister, Marilyn Roth; and brother, James Jagodzinski. He is survived by his daughters, Amy (Chris) Kerchevall and Julie (Patrick) Bolger; grandchildren, Kaylee Kerchevall, LCPL. Nicholas Kerchevall, USMC, Nathan, Tyler, and Dillon Stevenson; and sisters, Nancy (Tom) Smolinski and Patricia (Richard) Fitzenreiter. Special mention to his nephew Keith Sokoloski who is the son he never had.
