John Joseph Sedlar Jr., age 88, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at the Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 18, 1935 in Toledo, OH to John Joseph and Hanna (Fritz) Sedlar Sr. John was a graduate of Whitmer High School. A tool & die maker by trade, he worked for Teledyne for over 35 years, retiring as an inspector at age 70 in 2005. He also worked independently as an income tax preparer for JJ's Tax Service.
John was a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, and an Usher for 40 years. A skilled crafter and mineralogist, he fashioned beautiful jewelry from minerals including opal and quartz. He was also an avid golfer, a coin collector and member of the Toledo Coin Club, and member of the F.O.E.
John is survived by his wife, Corrine (Zmuda) Sedlar; sons, Steven Sedlar and Joe (Kelly Hoefflin) Sedlar; grandchildren, Abigail Anne Sedlar (Takume Yamada) and Emmit Sedlar; sister, Susan Cooper; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gerald Sedlar.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18 from 4-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday in Regina Coeli Church at 11 a.m. preceded by visitation in the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery.
