John A. “Jack” Belcik Jr., age 76, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Mercy Health Perrysburg Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1948 in Toledo, OH to John and Florence (MacWilliams) Belcik Sr. Jack was a graduate of Waite High School and earned his master’s degrees in mathematics and chemistry from the University of Toledo. He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps and a jump instructor during his military service. Jack worked for the Jeep Corporation for 35 years, starting in assembly and repair, and retiring as a chemist in 2006. An avid proponent of Jeep, he never drove any other make of vehicle. He was a member of UAW Local 12.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man. “One hell of a cook”, he was known for his goulash and chili-mac. He enjoyed golfing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a former parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sally (Ludwikowski) Belcik (married July 6, 1974); sons, Kevin (Danielle), Todd (Amy), and Matthew Mylek, and their brother, Mitchell (Trish) Mylek; grandchildren, Joe (Stephanie), Jeffrey, and Kira Mylek, Sasha Cokovic, and Jaslynn (Xavier) Reinhart; sisters, Esther (Bob) Hillabrand and Etta Marie (Kevin) Oakley; brothers, Tom (Kathy) Belcik and George (Terri) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and George Smith; and sisters, Elsi Kopp and Debbie Weinrich.
Visitation will be Monday, July 7 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Francis Speier presiding. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606/2898 Burial Corps will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
