John P. Boyce Obituary

John P. “Jack” Boyce Sr., age 90, of Toledo’s Point Place community passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 10, 1932 in Toledo, OH to William J. Sr. and Anna B. (Miller) Boyce. Jack served in the US Army during the Korean War (1952-1955). He worked his entire career in the credit department of the marketing division of Sun Oil, taking early retirement in 1989 after 32 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was area credit manager of the Cleveland and Detroit sales areas. Jack was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he received special recognition for his many years of service as a eucharistic minister, adult server, and usher. He was a member and former secretary of the church’s Holy Name Society, and a Eucharistic Minister at Riverside Hospital and Harborside Nursing Home. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Lawrence Council #4169 since 1969, and served as recorder and treasurer.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Joan (Bagrowski) Boyce; son, John P. Boyce Jr.; daughter Jane (Jeffrey) Rogowski; granddaughter, Jada Rogowski; sister-in-law, Marlene Boyce; brother-in-law, Joseph Bagrowski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Evelyn Simons, Lorraine Hartsfeld, Gladys Moon, Mildred Johnson, Marion Domonkos, Kathleen Romstadt, and Phyllis Hall; and brothers, Robert, Donald, Richard, Charles, William Jr., Kenneth, and James Boyce.

Visitation will be Friday, June 10 from 4-6 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps.
