Kenneth Robert Christ

Kenneth Robert Christ, age 93, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 22, 1930 in Toledo, OH to Carl and Florina (Volx) Christ. Ken was a graduate of Lincoln Grade School, and a Veteran of the US Navy. He was employed as a brakeman and engineer for the CSX Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1990, and as a security guard for Pinkerton. Ken was a lovable and friendly man who was kind to everyone. Modest and unassuming, he was happy taking pictures of everyone else at family events but never wanted his own picture taken. He enjoyed camping at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon, OH and was an enthusiastic collector of everything. Ken was a strong supporter of AMVETS, and proudly took part in one of their Honor Flights. He was a lifetime member of NERA - the Navy Enlisted Reserve Association, the American Legion, AMVETS, Korea Veterans, the FRA - Fleet Reserve Association, OUC - Outings Unlimited, and the Dads of Foreign Service Veterans. He was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Ken is survived by his children, Kenneth R. Christ Jr., Keith Christ, Kelly Christ, and Kathleen Christ; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and sister, Peggy Bumcroct. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances Christ; daughter, Karen Sue Christ; son, Kevin Christ; granddaughter, Karen Frances Christ; brothers, Don, Richard, Robert, and Chuck Christ; and sisters, Dolores Glanzman, Arlene Lawrence, Katherine Kenny, and Madaline McQuestion.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 9 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  The funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Pete Bowmer presiding. Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
