Larry Gene Ames

Larry Gene Ames, age 64, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at home. He was born in Oregon, Ohio on June 27, 1960, to Lyle G. and Erma M. (Becker) Ames. Larry was baptized and received First Communion and Confirmation at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. As a child he excelled at basketball and baseball during his formative years at Coy Elementary School. Larry enjoyed watching sports, especially Detroit Tigers baseball, hockey, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed many fishing trips with his mother and sister. He was a kind and generous person, always being respectful to others. One of his greatest joys in life was his faithful companion, his beloved cat, Jerry. His memory will be a treasure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his siblings, Daniel (Diane) Vargo, and Kimberly (Tony Losey) Ames; his sister-in-law, Barb Vargo; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends; and his dear cat, Jerry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Vargo, and his parents, Lyle and Erma Ames.

Arrangements were entrusted to Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Road, Toledo. Private graveside services were held, and Larry was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. In keeping with Larry’s love of animals, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the local humane society, or St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, Ohio.
