Laureen Ann Janiszewski Obituary

Laureen Ann “Laurie” Janiszewski, age 69, of Brooklyn, MI and formerly of Toledo, OH passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Toledo Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 30, 1954 in Toledo, OH to Norbert and Bernadine (Binkowski) Glowczewski. A graduate of Notre Dame Academy, she married her high school sweetheart, Michael Janiszewski on August 2, 1975. Laurie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker whose unconditional love for her family was evident in everything she did. She adored her children and grandchildren. After being diagnosed with leukemia, she fought bravely to have as much time with them as possible. She enjoyed the outdoors, whether hiking and sightseeing in Arizona, or spending time at Lake Columbia. A talented seamstress, she fashioned many beautiful quilts, blankets, and purses for family and friends. She and Mike were currently members of St. Rita Catholic Church in Clark Lake, MI.

Laurie is survived by her loving husband Mike; children, Kristen (Kevin) Gillespie, Michael John (Jean Leitch) Janiszewski, and Matthew Janiszewski; grandchildren, Alex and Sydney Gillespie, Michael Janiszewski, Spencer and Ashton Leitch; sister, Amy (Michael) Mattis; sister-in-law, Karen Sapp; and grand-puppy, “Finley”. She will also be missed by her loving step-brothers and sisters and their families as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, December 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo OH 43607 with Rev. Alan Zobler presiding.
