Lois Erd-Swicegood, age 92, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 26, 1928 in Toledo, OH to Edward and Evelyn (Thompson) Erd. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Lois was the primary librarian at Regina Coeli Grade School from 1965-1971. In 1972 she began working as a sales associate for the Lion Store in Downtown Toledo and later at the Northtowne Mall store, retiring from there in 1990 at age 62. Lois was a highly skilled seamstress who specialized in custom made draperies. A parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church for over 70 years, she was very involved in the church - as a member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society, a member of the first class of Eucharistic Ministers, and a volunteer at church festivals and funeral luncheons. She also sang in the adult choir, and fashioned countless stoles for infant baptisms. A proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Lois is survived by her children, Mark (Peggy) Swicegood, Susan Evans, Cindy (Mike) Delaney, and Ann (Kevin) Borysiak; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Erd, Ruth Harvey, Lynn (Jim) McDonagh, and Dona Fisk; and brothers, Jack and Dale Erd. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Swicegood; son, Matt Swicegood; brother, Paul Erd; and son-in-law, Scott Evans.
The Funeral Mass for Lois will be Saturday, February 27 at 11 a.m. in Regina Coeli Catholic Church preceded by visitation in the church narthex from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
