Marlene Ann Mierzwiak, age 85, of Temperance, MI and formerly of Toledo passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 7, 1938 in Toledo, OH to John and Martha (Janowiecki) Grycza. Marlene was a 1956 graduate of Whitney Vocational High School. Throughout her employment career she did secretarial work for Champion Spark Plug, Owens Illinois, New England Life, and the Toledo Museum of Art, retiring in 2005. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marlene was always willing to babysit and loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and was blessed with a green thumb. She also looked forward to trips to area casinos. A longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, she was a regular volunteer for the church’s funeral luncheon program.
Marlene is survived by her children, Kathleen (John) Manrow, David (Kathleen) Mierzwiak, Gary (Sandy) Mierzwiak, and Mary Jo (Doug) Bushroe; brother, John (Camille) Grycza; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, David Mierzwiak.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16 from 4-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a rosary led by members of the Regina Coeli Church Altar Rosary Society at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
