Mary Josephine Keener

Mary Josephine Keener, age 95, formerly of Buchanan Dr., Toledo, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 28, 1929, in Webster Springs, WV to Kelly and Ressie (Payne) Wilson, she worked as a glass selector for Libbey Glass for over 30 years. Mary loved crafting, gardening, listening to country music, traveling, and her cat, “Blue”. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family and loved ones who all meant so much to her.

Mary is survived by her children, Cathy (Allen) Painter, Handley Jr. (Abby), Diane Whetsel, and Jennifer Williams; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Holt Keener Sr.; son, William Keener; son-in-law, James Whetsel; sisters; Vivian Jacklitch, Jaqueline Wilcox, and Virginia Hamick; and brothers, Bill, Al, Gordon, and Floyd Wilson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10 from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11-1 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 11 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Deacon James Dudley presiding. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
