Michael Joseph Schneider

Michael Joseph Schneider, age 84, of Westerville, OH and formerly of Toledo, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville, OH. He was born on July 9, 1941, in Toledo, OH to Daniel and Grace (Westfall) Schneider. Michael attended Libbey High School in Toledo before enlisting in the Army. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, he served his country for over 20 years, including distinguished service in Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star and many other accolades. Michael retired as a Sergeant First Class Senior Engineering Supervisor. Drawing on the discipline and skills honed during his service, he devoted his retirement to caring for his family and assisting loved ones with construction projects. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos with his wife Peggy. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville, OH and a former parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Toledo. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Zuccarell) Schneider; children, David (Shelly) Schneider, Anthony “Tony” (Andreea) Bender, Andrew Schneider, and Tina (Rebekah) Schneider; daughter-in-law, Jenn Sibberson; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Helen England, Faye Jeffries, Daniel Schneider, John Schneider, and Fred Westfall, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Schneider; grandchildren, Johnathan and Alexander Schneider; and sisters, Patricia, Irene, and Mary Schneider.

Visitation will be Friday, August 29 from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH 43612. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Clement Catholic Church, Toledo, at 10 a.m. Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 2 at 1 p.m. in Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH.
