At age 94, Norbert Valentine Rucki said goodbye to his family, friends, and caregivers on June 18, 2024. Born October 28,1929, he was a proud lifelong Toledo-area resident and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He began his career in 1956 with the then-Kaiser Jeep Company and ended it 35 years later with the Chrysler Corporation. He was a devout Catholic and a generous volunteer for a number of parishes and churches throughout Toledo.
Known by most as Norb or Bert, and by his grandkids as Poppy, he was the son of William W. Rucki, a German immigrant to the U.S. and Mary Kasprzyk Rucki, a first-generation Pole. Married for 56 years to Zora Patricia Bear Rucki (deceased) he had three sons: Michael (deceased), William (Diann), and David (Pamela), along with two granddaughters, Catherine and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Janette Rucki, Carolyn Bear, and Susan Bear. He was predeceased by his younger brother Melvin.
Please join us at Most Blessed Sacrament Church - 2240 Castlewood Dr - on Thursday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. for a gathering of family and friends and a funeral mass at 11:00. Inurnment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will be at Resurrection Cemetery, followed by a luncheon gathering to celebrate and remember his life.
