Norma Ries Obituary

Norma Jean Ries, age 83, of Toledo, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born on August 14, 1940 in Fairmont, West Virginia to Harry and Stella (Newkirk) Barker. Norma worked for Crown Cork & Seal as a pay-off operator for 15 years, retiring in 2006. She was also employed by Sinclair Manufacturing for 25 years as a packager. Norma loved her canine companion “Sally”, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Norma is survived by her sister, Shirley (Alfred) Beahn; brother, James Barker; half- sister, Dannetta Barker; half-brother, Mike (Judy) Barker; niece Dorri Barker and great-niece, Corry (Carlos) Grace; additional nieces and nephews, Pam (Calvin) Parrotte, Donnie Minder, Rick Minder, Mike Barker (Jacqueline), Felicia Flores; great niece, Lillieanna Chunn; and dear friends, Dick and Barb Losie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold Ries in 1982; brother, Kenneth “Harry” Barker; step-sister, Debbie Wilson; and sister-in-law and best friend, Susan Barker.

Norma will be buried in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 419-476-9176. Condolences can be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
