Patricia Ann Lonsway

The sun rose first for Patricia Ann Lonsway (née Washalaski) on July 11, 1937, and set one final time on December 23, 2024. At age 87, she passed away peacefully at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania surrounded by friends and family. Patt was born the youngest of four siblings in Toledo Ohio to Ray Washalaski and Mary Dobias and attended St. Ann Catholic School and Central Catholic High School. She was employed at Ohio Bell, the Frank Rumpf Employment Company, and for most of her career, through retirement, the Toledo Blade. Alongside her day jobs, she was devoted to expressing her creativity through photography, which she pursued both as a hobbyist from her high-school days through the 1990s, and as a part-time independent photographer in the 1970s and 1980s. Backyard gardens, nature trails, and covered bridges served as her palette and inspiration. She was a dedicated mom, loving grandma, caring aunt, devoted sister, and thoughtful friend; Patt will be missed on this earth by many. Devout in her Catholic faith, she was a former parishioner of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church (now St. Martin de Porres) and St. Catherine of Siena, and most recently of The Monastery of the Visitation and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Toledo.

Patt is survived by her son Brian Lonsway, daughter-in-law Kathleen Brandt, and grandson Tristan Brandt Lonsway. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy (Dot) Barut and Mary Catherine (Kay) Mertz, and brother Larry Washalaski.

The Solemn Requiem Mass will take place Saturday, January 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 628 Locust Street, Toledo OH 43604, at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
